    We look forward to welcoming this year's incoming 6th graders on August 12th! We hope to see you there!

March Madness Week 4— 3D Night (3/26/17)

Thanks for checking out the final update from March Madness! This Sunday was 3D Night, and it was a blast!

We started out the night the the “Triple Cracker Stacker Game”. Each participant has six crackers with three ingredients on each, and the object of the game was to name as many of the ingredients on each cracker as possible. We ended up having two students time with a perfect score!

The message was, “Put On Your Jesus Glasses”.  Before the message, we watched a 3D Rollercoaster Video with 3D glasses! There were a lot of screams and cheers throughout the video! 3D films fuses two images together allowing you to see in three dimensions— length, width, and depth. This is known as known as stereoscopic vision. 3D films are created and captured using two lenses placed side by side, just like our eyes (or producing computer generated images to replicate the same effect.)
Seeing a film in 3D adds an entirely new dimension to it. When we “Put on Our Jesus Glasses”, we are combining our view of life with God’s view of life to open a whole new world/dimension to life.

Isaiah 26:3-4NLT says,
You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
4 Trust in the Lord always,
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock

These verses offer an incredible promise. When we place our trust in God and fix our thoughts on him, he will keep us in PERFECT peace. God is our eternal rock!

Psalm 121 NIV says,

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Our help comes from God. This passage encourages us to fix our eyes upon God. God watches over us and protects each and everyday. When we put our Jesus Glasses on, it changes the way we look at life, life’s circumstances, and ourselves.

Check out some real examples from the Bible about people who put on their Jesus glasses and allowed God to use them to change their world and the lives in it:

David shows up to give food to his brothers when they were serving in the Israelite Army, and sees everyone scared from the giant named Goliath. David was smaller and younger the the men who were supposed to be fighting Goliath, but David had his Jesus Glasses on. He wasn’t intimidated by Goliath and his mocking threats against the Israelites and God because he knew that God had delivered Goliath into his hands. God fights on our behalf when we trust in him!

God called Moses to be his voice to the Israelites and lead them out of slavery in Egypt. Moses argued with God and asked God to choose somebody else because Moses was focused on his speech problem and inadequacies. Something happened as God continued to work on Moses— Moses put on his Jesus Glasses and became one of the greatest leaders the world has ever seen. God used Moses’ obedience to defeat the Egyptians and lead the Israelites out of slavery. Deuteronomy 34:10 tells us that there has never been another prophet like Moses!

God called Gideon to lead the Israelites into battle against the Midianite Army. Gideon responded by asking God to pick someone else because he said he was the weakest person in one of the weakest families in Israel. God’s response (in modern terms)— put on your Jesus Glasses, Gideon! Gideon gathers around 32,000 soldiers to fight against 135,000 Midianite soldiers. What was God’s response? You still don’t have your Jesus Glasses on, Gideon. Gideon then lowers the number of Israelite soldiers to 20,000. God’s response is still the same, and God tells Gideon to go into battle with only 300 men. When Gideon obeys, God throws the Midianites into confusion and the Israelites are victorious! When we are obedient to God, he will always come through on our behalf!

Our last example is Peter. Peter adamantly denied Jesus three times, and had numerous “excuse me while I stick my foot in my mouth” moments. Then something happened on the Day of Pentecost when Peter decided to put on his Jesus Glasses. Peter stands up in front of THOUSANDS of people and boldly preaches the Gospel, and 3,000 people place their faith in Jesus as a result.

We encouraged all of the students to “Put On Your Jesus Glasses”, and prepare for God to use them to radically transform their world!

Put on Your Jesus Glasses and be the person that God created you to be!

Be Blessed!
