Live It Up— Week 1 (2/14/16)

This past Sunday, 2/14/16, we started our “LIVE IT UP!” Series in preparation for our Dare2Share Trip in March. We kicked the message off with a clip from “The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey” where Bilbo is asked to go on the adventure of a lifetime to help defeat a fire-breathing dragon. He originally says no because of his initial fear, but changes his mind because of his desire to be a part of something larger than life.

We then looked at John 10:1-10, but primarily verse 10: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

We have been invited on an adventure that is larger than life. That adventure is a life— a full and abundant life with Jesus Christ as well as making him known to others! Just like Bilbo, we are often scared to embark on this incredible adventure because we risk losing something. We risk losing popularity and approval by those closest to us. What we will find out once we accept the invitation to this adventure is that the reward of walking with Christ and making him known to others far outweighs the risk.

We looked at three things from John 10:1-10:

1. Jesus the Shepherd

Jesus is our guide and protector.

2. Satan the Thief

Satan comes only to steal, kill, and destroy our life, hopes, dreams, and relationship with God.

3. Jesus the Life-giver

Jesus comes to give us life— more specifically, abundant life. When we choose to follow him on this incredible journey, we can be guaranteed that we will find a fulfilling and adventurous (this doesn’t mean it will always be easy) life.

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday for Part 2!

Be Blessed!
